Benefits
Studies have shown that evergreens breathe a chemical into the air that helps relieve stress, decrease depression and support the immune system. In Japan -- where walking in the woods is called shinrinyoku, which means "taking in the atmosphere of the forest" -- researchers found these improvements occurred with as little as two 15-minute strolls in the trees. Our Walks Our medicine walks introduce you to a way of being in the wilderness that helps you absorb its therapeutic benefits. Walking in the beauty and peace of the trees can elevate your mood, relieve anxiety, renew your energy, and provide insight and wisdom. The experience begins from the sacred circle of a Native American medicine wheel and a guided meditation that orients us to the elements and powers of the natural world in and around us. We introduce mindful walking and a way of listening to and imagining with our surroundings. We then move into walking or sitting in the cleansing, soulful, wisdom of outer and inner nature. We close our time in the trees by gathering again to reflect on our experience and share ways to incorporate what you have gained into your life. |
